The Style of Success

By Bobbie Casalino-Lewis

What does success look like, well it is a bit different more than likely for all of us. For some it may be defined by the amount of money in your bank account, the car you drive, the house you live in, the brands you wear and more.

How about success having a style all its own. Based on the colors you love to wear, the fragrances you enjoy, getting a well done on that Salsa 3 step in dance class, or making a tricky recipe and having it work out the first time.

Style as I have extoled many times is your personal statement, your manner of doing something. Success is also personal; you get to decide and create and change what success looks like throughout your life. A baby walking across the room for the first time is HUGE and is usually greeted with gales of praise vocal as well as in the form of hugs and kisses.

The first time a toddler goes “potty” is also a source of great accolades. Kindergarten, tying your shoes (do kids shoes even have laces anymore?). Is also met with loud praise. On and on throughout the childhood years the simple acts of living are acknowledged with celebration.

When does the source of praise, “Success” transform from outwardly generated to inwardly possessed? From pats on the head to Yes, I got this! I think it is pretty amazing to see the shift, it doesn’t happen for everyone sadly. Many spend their entire lives in search of the next brass ring, the accomplishment that puts them over the top and the outside praise that fills their cup.

I can only speak to my Style of Success which has become satisfyingly an inside job.  Becoming a published author, learning to sweep row in an 8 seat boat, flying trapeze, and getting GM to own the financial quality issues with my car. Some bigger than others but all successes.

To expand this concept a little bit further and bring it back to Fashion/Style consider this. Finding your style, putting the correct fashion to it so that it compliments your essence now that’s the ultimate success in my book.

Becoming the embodiment of your gifts and aligned to your purpose, a
crusader for individuality and an expression of your uniqueness Now that’s the Style of Success. Promotion of cookie cutter copies of one another has become all too prevalent. Nature did not intend for us to be exactly the same. Every bird, creature, and insect have its distinguishably different aspects and we are very much part of that kingdom.

May I encourage you to give it some thought, be generous with self praise and orchestrate your very own blueprint for your Style of Success.
